Getting Started
So we can bug you with text messages! To do stuff!
Turns texts are pretty good at getting people to do things right away. Maybe they're just annoying enough that you pay attention to them.
You'll also get texts when someone likes what you've done, or leaves a comment on your post or a conversation you're in. And if you tell Budge how and when to talk to you all the stuff that happens while you're asleep will redirect to email. Budge knows that getting woken up at 1am with a text is no fun (one of our early-early beta testers told us)!
When you start a program, you have a chance to pick a custom time to get reminders for that habit (ie, get texted to brush your teeth at 7am every morning). Otherwise, Budge will try to pick the best time for you based on your behavior.
Tell Budge how and when to talk to you (so that you don't get reminders when you're asleep). You can also edit your phone number for getting texts, set your timezone, and a bunch of other stuff in the settings.
We tried to make it as easy as possible, though. You can check in at bud.ge in from any browser (web or mobile). Just click on the program icon.
You can also SMS, tweet to @budge, post a tweet with #budge in it, or DM @budge to check in, but you'd better read up on the special syntax over here. Budge understands "I flossed" and "I did 8 pushups" but not "hey, budge, I did 8 pushups and also flossed, thanks a ton for reminding me!" (It's just not that smart yet.)
Finally, if you have a Withings scale, you can connect it in the settings, and it will automatically check in your weight for you.
Twitter Accounts
Nope.
When you do something and check in using the app, you'll have the option to publish it to Twitter or Facebook too - just click on the grey icons to make them light up blue. You can also click the lock icon to keep your checkin totally private, and it won't even show up to other people on Budge. If you checkin by any of the other methods (by texting or DMing budge) it defaults to not sharing over social networks.
